Manado, Indonesia is a Christian haven. On a scenic mountaintop called Tomohon, faithful churches minister to a population of 90% Christians. However, like many 3rd world countries, only 10% of these are born-again - the rest are just Christians by tradition, said Bible minister Laurens. Yet God has prepared these people for the gospel. Especially to these who have been sown with the Word of God.

It was truly God's grace that led the WorldTeach team to present the "Personal Holiness in Times of Temptation" seminar. Most girls in that town were pregnant by age 16! Immorality was rampant. It was a timely and much needed teaching in that community. To multiply and spread these simple and yet awesome principles on Personal Holiness, 49 church leaders and 16 pastors (a total of 65) were trained and equipped as WorldTeachers to teach this seminar.

God is preparing an end-time army of Bible teachers to bring Christ's hope and healing to this hurting land.

W. Kalimantan, Indonesia – Matthias Quake, one of our Board members and WorldTeachers went to W. Kalimantan in a joint mission trip with Bethesda Bedok-Tampines Church in Singapore, in which he is also serving as an elder. As the team ministered there, Matthias taught 170 participants on Personal Holiness and trained 38 of them. Fifty prayed to receive Christ and another 55 dedicated their lives to the Lord. The response was overwhelming as many felt that this seminar was appropriately and systematically presented and was practical in its approach towards personal holiness and relationship with God. The participants asked for the team’s return.

On 18-19 Feb – Elder Daniel Foo taught Vision of Leader and conducted training in
Tangerang (in the new province of Banten). 105 attended the teaching. It had a mix of pastors, church leaders, full-time workers, and others including students. Ten participants received Christ as Saviour. On the following day, 30 attended the training conducted by Daniel.

On 21-22 Feb – Daniel also taught Vision of Leader in Semarang with about 120 participants in attendance. Participants here seemed to be even more responsive in their commitment to the practice of visionary leadership.
At the same time, Matthias taught Personal Holiness in Wesley Methodist Church (Jakarta) Retreat at Cipayong to 42 participants; all members of Wesley.
Even though all the participants were believers, three committed themselves to the Lord. “The response was uncharacteristic of this congregation,” Pastor Don Turman remarked, “This is a very traditional church.” Even so, the way the seminar was presented allowed the challenge to be done unthreateningly.
Rev. Turman invited Matthias to return to teach the rest of the church and to train some of them to teach PH to their circles of influence. In fact, Rev Turman was himself considering being trained so that he may teach this in the Methodist network in Indonesia and US (when he returns to N. Carolina for 3 months in June’02).
